One moment changed everything…
Evie Ward had everything she’d ever dreamed of. An action-packed job where no two shifts were ever the same, the best friend a girl could ever want, and a fairy tale wedding just days away. Her life was absolutely perfect. Until one bullet—one horrible choice—left her with a broken heart and shattered dreams. Fleeing the city she loved and a lifetime of memories, Evie took a job in the Outer Banks of North Carolina in the hopes that the ocean air and fresh beaches could somehow restore her soul. Falling in love again wasn’t part of the plan.
Landon Reed was on top of the world. The money, the women, the status—he had it all until one bad decision nearly cost him his life. His father gave him three months to get his act together or be cut off from the family fortune and business. No house, no job and no money. His will and his patience are tested further when his father hires a nurse to whip him into shape. She may be little but she's mean and it looks like Landon has finally met his match.
With her shattered heart and his broken spirit, the road to recovery will be long. Can they help each other heal or will their fractured pasts be too much to overcome?

Excerpt:
“Good morning, Landon!” Amelia hummed a little tune quietly as she set up the bedside table. “It’s a beautiful day, today. Perhaps you’d like to go down to the beach after your physical therapy appointment?”
I pulled the covers over my head. “I changed my mind. I’m not going to any appointment.”
“Come on, Landon. You can’t spend the rest of your life sitting here in this room.”
“Yes, I can.”
“You are going to physical therapy.” The covers disappeared from my face as I looked up into the smiling grey eyes of Amelia. “Rise and shine!”
“I’m not getting up.” I buried my head under my pillow.
Amelia walked toward the door. “Maybe you’ll have better luck with him.”
“Good morning, Mr. Reed. Do you plan to stay in bed all day?” A different voice, one thick with the distinctive accent of New York City replaced Amelia’s soft southern sound.
“What’s it to you?”
“Well, it’s all the same to me if you want to rot away in that bed. I get paid either way.” I heard soft footsteps cross the room toward the little sitting area.
Rolling over on my side, I shifted the pillow enough to peek out. From my vantage point, all I could see was a pair of canvas shoes. The television turned on. I heard her flip through channels, finally settling on that home improvement show with the twin brothers. Every woman I knew loved them.
“Nobody watches those stupid shows anymore.”
Either she didn’t hear me or she was ignoring me.
“Those shows are ridiculous.” I made sure to project my voice from under the pillow.
“No more ridiculous than a grown man hiding under a pillow and acting like a two-year-old.”
I threw the covers off and shot up to a sitting position, ignoring the burning pain in my leg. “What the fuck is your prob…” Holy shit. The woman sitting on the couch looking at the television and completely ignoring me wasn’t hideous or horrible. In fact, she was fucking hot. “Who the hell are you?”  I knew exactly who she was.
She looked over at me, boredom in her expression, before returning her attention to the television. “The nurse your father hired. Who do you think I am?”
“I don’t need a nurse.”
“I agree.” She flipped the channel to a news program and grimaced. “The way you’re acting, you need a nanny.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” I turned so I could swing my legs over the side of the bed, my knee making my movements jerky not angry and pronounced like I’d intended.
“It means, you can’t even dress yourself so how can anyone expect you to do anything?”
I followed her glance down to my lap. “See something you like?
“Nope. I’m a nurse. I’ve seen worse. Of course, I’ve seen better too. Much better.” She clicked to another station. I could have sworn I saw her lip twitch as I growled over her insult.
“Just get out. I don’t need you. Tell my father to go to hell.”
She tossed the remote control on the coffee table and checked her watch. “You have ten minutes to get ready for physical therapy or I’m taking you the way you are.”
I pulled the sheet onto my lap and crossed my arms over my bare chest. “I already told Amelia, I’m not going.”
“You are going to get dressed.” She stood and looked me in the eye. “You’re down to nine minutes.”
“And just how do you expect me to get down all of those stairs?”
“The same way you got up them. Walter showed me the elevator.”
Damn it. I was hoping she hadn’t found that yet. “Are you planning to watch?”
“Watch what? There’s nothing to see.” She dropped her gaze to my lap and gave me a little smile that was way more taunting than friendly.
“Fine. Suit yourself.” I whipped the sheet back and reached for my wheelchair. Instead of turning away, she stayed right where she was with that little smile dancing around on her lips. With about as much grace as a bull in a china shop, I managed to get from the bed to the chair while she just stood there and watched.
“I thought you were supposed to be here to help me.”
“You didn’t say you needed my assistance.”
“Really? I had to ask? Isn’t that what you are here for?”
“Let’s get something straight, Mr. Reed.” She put her hands on her hips and glared at me. “I’m a trauma trained RN. I am not your maid or your gopher or any other thing. It is my job to get you back on your feet both literally and figuratively. I’ll handle your medical care and your personal care as needed but I am not at your beck and call.”
“Just get out of my way so I can get dressed.” I pushed past her to the large walk-in closet and started grabbing clothes. Dragging a pair of sweats, some boxer briefs and a t-shirt into the bathroom, I struggled my way into them. The doctors had promised me that things would get easier once the pain wasn’t so excruciating but my knee just refused to bend like it used to.
When I was done, I ran a comb through my wild hair, mostly so I won’t have to see the look on Amelia’s face when we leave the house.
“Come on, we’re going to be late!” The nurse called.
“I’m coming already!” I whipped open the bathroom door and scowled at her. “You never told me your name.”
She shrugged. “You never asked.”
She was fucking infuriating—despite the way her long brown hair tumbled in sexy waves over her shoulder from the pony tail it was secured in.
“Fine. What is your name?”
“Evie.”
“What’s your real name?”
“That is my real name.” She stepped behind me and turned the wheel chair toward the door. She stopped and grabbed a pair of tennis shoes from the floor, placing them in my lap.
“I meant, is Evie short for something?”
“Yes.” She pushed the chair down the hall toward the door at the end and pressed the button for the small service elevator—the number one reason I had chosen the beach house as my home base after the accident.
“Are you going to tell me what it is?” The elevator opened and Evie pushed me inside.
“Nope.”
“Why not?”
“It’s none of your business. You can call me Evie or nurse. That’s all you need to know about me.”
“Anyone ever tell you that you can be a real bitch?”
“Honey, I grew up in New York. They teach a class on that in high school.”
The door opened at the ground level. Evie pushed me out of the elevator and down the ramp Walter had constructed to get me in and out of the house.
“I’m going out on a limb here but I bet you aced that class.”

“You’re smarter than you look, Mr. Reed.”

Interview:

  1. How did you start writing erotic romance?
First, I would like to say thank you for inviting me to visit with your readers today. I am so excited to share my new novel All She Never Wanted  with you and your readers. It's an emotional, second chance love story that is very close to my heart. I love to read but romance is what I most enjoy. When I read, it is for escape. I want happy endings and if they happened to be a little spicy all the better. It was only natural, in my opinion, that I gravitate toward writing the sort of things I love reading.
2. Plotter or pantster?
I am a total pantster. No matter how much planning and outlining I do, it doesn’t matter. The characters do what they want and don’t care one bit what I think about it.
3. What are three things you have on your writing desk?
My writing desk doubles as the dining room table…currently it contains a blown glass pumpkin, a science project for my nine year old and a couple of bags of Halloween candy that the kids aren’t allowed to keep in their rooms.
4. Favorite food?
I pretty much love all comfort foods. Stews, casseroles, dishes with sauce and cheese and anything that even hints at being Mexican.  I am not all that picky.
5. Tell us a little about your new release. What character in the book really spoke to you?
All She Never Wanted  is a story about love, loss and loving again. Evie had everything she wanted and then it was all ripped away from her. She had to find a way to go on living and make a life for herself in a world that had left her broken and lost. Landon has his own baggage—and plenty of it—but together they slowly work through all the emotions and damage and begin to heal. Evie has to work so hard to come to terms with what has happened to her yet she never loses the best parts of her personality—her snark and her strength. Landon brings out the best in her, one moment at a time. Her happily ever after is hard fought and well earned.
6. I write because ____...
Writing is my escape from the daily stresses of life and the way I make sense of the world around me.
7. What is your favorite type of character to write about?
I love strong willed, determined women who go after what they want. My heroines also tend to be closer to forty than to twenty because I think those characters can be just as sexy and romantic with their husbands or a new love as someone younger.
8. What is the sexiest scene you ever wrote?
I’m not sure if it’s the sexiest but my favorite is an exchange between Cyndi and Jason in my book Undercover in Six Inch Stilettos where he runs through a list of things he would say to someone he arrests but puts a sexy spin them.  Loving a cop has its little quirks- the job tends to seep into every aspect of your lives, including the bedroom. There are lots of jokes about handcuffs and big guns and being under arrest that a non-cop relationship might never bring into a romantic situation. It definitely adds a little spice…

9. What advice would you give new authors in the erotica/romance field?
Do not ever feel embarrassed or ashamed by what you write. Be proud to be a part of a billion dollar industry that empowers women. I made the mistake in the beginning of not wanting to tell people my genre but let me tell you, I am over that. If you write things that people want to read and feel good about it then it doesn’t matter what genre it is. I read an article recently that called out romance writers as one of the last professions in the world that mentors the competition and supports each other’s successes to the very end. I am proud to be a part of that.
10. What is next on your writerly horizon?
The first book in my new Cape Cod Love Story series, Daisies in the Outfield, is releasing on February 21, 2017. It has all my favorite things—beaches, baseball and sexy firefighters.

Excerpt from Sanguine Shadows by Erzabet Bishop

Her eyes widened and her lips parted and he caught a glimpse of fang. “I…didn’t know you cared.”
“If I didn’t, why would I have convinced Roark to turn you?” He tugged her closer, the push of her breasts against his chest making it hard to concentrate on mere words. He’d known she was meant for him from the first second he’d seen her but he had to let Roark take her or risk her dying.
“You don’t know me. I was just a girl on the street. A human not worth your consideration.”
Fenris didn’t miss the hurt in her eyes. Perhaps he had been wrong leaving her alone. He’d been convinced he was right letting her assimilate unhindered into her new life. He also couldn’t fault her reasoning. She was right. They had no claim on one another, only an attraction that blazed to life in the most untenable of situations.
But she was wrong on one account. He had noticed her before-just not in a way he might have acted upon. Human and supernatural interaction was forbidden but he was unable to let her die. Not like that.
He wasn’t able to stop thinking about her and hadn’t since that night.
“I did notice you, witchling. How could I not?” He lifted a finger and traced the side of her face, his cock hardening at the moan that slipped unbidden from her lips. “You burn inside of me. Only I couldn’t act. Not until then. But I had to save you. To do anything else…” He let his voice trail off and watched her reaction.
Mari blinked and reached forward, pressing her lips to his. “It’s like a fire, isn’t it? A fire in the blood.”
“Oh Gods, yes.”

How to Silence a Rogue

Title: How to Silence a Rogue
Series: The Forsaken Lords Series
Author: Kristin Vayden
Genre: Regency Romance
Publisher: Blue Tulip Publishing

Miss Maria Garten had one more season till she was firmly on the shelf.
One. More.
It was her only chance, because while some ladies could pretend or sincerely be at peace with the life of a spinster.
She was not among their ranks.
Taking a deep breath, she reminded herself once more to think before she spoke. It shouldn’t be difficult.
Except that it was, for her at least.
Because the only thing more certain than her potential future as a spinster was that Mr. Sheppard was a confirmed bachelor.
A rake of the first order.
Not the kind that would ruin an innocent, but the kind that would charm them, seduce her with his charming words, make her fall in love with the legendary smile and easy manner that was as easy as breathing.
And then he’d walk away to find a new distraction.
Utterly unaware that he had broken a few hearts in the process.
Maria refused to be counted among them.
She needed a husband, not a distraction.
After all, friendship was far less complicated.
Wasn’t it?
**This is the second book in The Forsaken Lords Series. A series of interconnected standalones**

“I’ve always loved a gentleman in a black coat.” Maria flirted.
He turned, his heart slamming against his chest at her words. While he knew they were on friendly enough terms for her to joke with him, it affected him differently. For her to say such a thing meant that she did find him attractive.
Damn it all, he was reading into everything like a woman.
“And I do love a debutant in a…” Curtis paused, taking in her gown, drinking her in. “Good Lord, Maria,” he murmured hoarsely, swallowing hard and immediately berating himself for being so careless with his words. He cleared his throat and forced a charming grin. “You’re lovely! Quite angelic, if I say so myself… even if I know better.”
“Thank you, I think.” She grinned wryly. Her gaze shifted to the room, scanning it thoughtfully.
“Looking for someone?” Curits asked, deftly angling toward her, moving in closer.
“Yes. You know I am, thank you kindly,” she answered, not even turning slightly to address his question.
“Have you had any more… contact?” he asked, knowing full well she had.
“Maybe, maybe not.” She shrugged.
“Oh, is that how you’re going to play it, minx? Confide in me and then leave me out in the dark?” he joked, using her distraction as the prime opportunity to scan her features, catalogue them in that devastatingly beautiful gown. His mouth grew dry as he noted the way the braided cord accentuated the swell of her perfect breasts, while draping with the barest of hints over her round derriere. Dear Lord, she was killing him without a weapon.
“Very well, you have a point. It’s not very sporting of me to keep you in the dark when you’ve been nothing but supportive.” Maria gave a small sigh. “He said that I’ll dance with him tonight.” She turned, her gaze alive with delight, practically overwhelming him with a humbling elation.
She was this excited about him… only she didn’t know it was him.
Would she be so thrilled if she knew?
The thought was sobering, and he cleared his throat before responding. “Ah, so some of the mystery will be solved then!”
“Yes! Of course, no one has asked me to dance yet, but… maybe he hasn’t arrived.” She gave him a slightly worried look, her dark-winged brows drawing together slightly.
“Well, just because he’s not made his move doesn’t mean you have to be a wallflower. Let’s take the next dance and give him something to be jealous over, don’t you think?” He leaned in closely, inhaling softly the scent of rosewater clinging to her shoulder as he paused just above it.
She sighed and turned then paused. Her green eyes wide, she blinked at his proximity before blushing as he gave her a wink and offered his hand.
“You’re wounding my ego,” he said as he wiggled his still-empty hand, his heart pounding hard at the thought of her rejection.
“Sorry, yes, of c-course.” She seemed to collect herself and placed her hand in his.
How could holding a woman’s hand be so sensual? Yet, as his grip tightened slightly over hers, his body responded. He forced his thoughts away from the path they tried to take, one that led to visions of that very same dress pooled in a heap on his bedroom floor. “How are the tulips?” he asked, forcing his thoughts into line.
“Alive. How chivalrous of you to care.” She arched a brow at him, grinning.
“That’s me. What can I say? I care about children, small animals, and tulips. I’m a regular saint.” He chuckled as they meandered through the room toward the dancing floor.
Maria stifled a giggle.
“Mocking me?” Curtis asked.
“Never.” Her eyes were a mask of innocence, an expression that at once had him narrowing his eyes.
“And a lady such as yourself would never stoop to use sarcasm,” he answered with a hint of sarcasm and a grin.
“Indeed. Never,” she replied haughtily then proceeded to giggle. “Never!” she repeated with exaggeration.
Curtis chuckled, taking pleasure in the way her grin lit up her countenance, enchanting him. Yet as his gaze left her face, he noticed the regard of several other gentlemen as well, watching her thoughtfully.
With interest.
Bloody hell.
“Shall we?” He led her out to the floor to the beginning of the quadrille. As they performed the steps and spun around, he grinned at the way she danced with graceful abandon. While her steps were perfectly executed, a lively nature reflected the wit and humor she possessed. How had he missed that before? As she gave him playful grins, he found himself lost in the merriment of the moment. Was this what he had been afraid to face? Had he truly felt that a life of lonely bachelorhood could compare to this carefree joy?
The song ended all too soon, and before they exited the floor, Lord Huffton approached, asking Maria for a dance. She obliged, and as they turned to the dance floor, she glanced back, giving Curtis a wide-eyed grin full of implication.
Damn it all, for the rest of the night she’d think each partner could potentially be her admirer. She’d laugh, flirt, and beam those beautiful smiles in their direction.
While he watched.
And bloody hell, he had no one to blame for it but himself.
