Heating Up Hawaii Virtual Tour

Thank you Carmen for visiting on the blog today!
1. How did you get started with erotic romance? I write sexy contemporary with scorching love scenes that, for some, might cross the erotica line—especially if you consider the number of pages and scenes devoted to that. That said, I think the heat level must come from the characters and their emotions. I like books with tons of tension and conflict, and I believe that makes the playtime in the bedroom a lot steamier. J
2. What are your favorite characters to write about? Characters that are questioning themselves or their choices. Take my heroine Penny. Even though she exudes professionalism and confidence, inside she’s battling her own fading idealism, her old-fashioned ideas of where a woman in her thirties should be in life. I think we can all relate to that.
 3. Open your book to any page and tell us what is happening. Deal! J In chapter two, a wave of empowerment sweeps over Peggy as she convinces Luc to hire her as his P.R. person to make sure the reopening of his trouble resort goes smoothly; in exchange, he’ll give her a list of referrals so she can open her own business.
4. What is your favorite ice cream flavor? Cookies and cream, hands down.
5. Horror movies or classic film? I used to watch horror movies, but nowadays I’m a weenie. I’d say indie flicks, rom-coms, and yeah, maybe even some classics.
6. Cheeseburger or salad? Cheeseburger with salad. Adding the greens makes me feel less guilty.
7. Pantster or plotter? Natural-born pantser trying to plot.
8. What was the toughest scene you ever had to write? Usually it’s the baring-of-the-soul moment—when the character vents and tells the other a hidden secret or something very private. I have to make sure I convey the emotions to the reader.
9. The anatomy of a sex scene: How do you construct a bite-your-nails-hot scene? It’s not easy as you think! I usually let the characters lead me, then I do a dirty draft of the scene. Then I go back to make sure everything makes sense and there’s enough emotion.
10. What is your next writing project? I’m writing Heating Up Las Vegas, which tells Darren’s story. Darren was Penny’s ex in Heating Up Hawaii, and as a recovering alcoholic, he has his own demons to face before finding love. I’m very excited about this project.
